Tucked near Hanamikoji in Gion, Kurashita welcomes you into a lovingly restored 100-year-old machiya where classic Kyoto charm meets a clean, modern touch. The signature is yudofu made with tofu from Nanzenji’s long-established Hattori shop, paired with the restaurant’s own soy sauce—rich with soybean aroma and a gentle sweetness that lingers. Each morning the chef visits Kyoto’s central market to pick seasonal fish, and the menu is equally strict about local produce, including prized Kyoto beef. Come for kaiseki, or settle in for sukiyaki and shabu-shabu. It’s an easy stroll from Gion-Shijo Station.
